Rijeka Carnival (the biggest in Croatia) is an impressive international program attracting many thousands of visitors annually. Inspired by Croatian, Slavic, Venetian, and Austrian traditions. Originally held as entertainment for the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy of centuries past. One highlight is the "Flowers Holiday" which transforms the local theatre into a huge dancehall. 17th of February to the 4th of March.
